Elizabeth Gillis

Elizabeth A. Gillis, 93, passed away at 12:01am, June 23, 2009, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home, Danville. She was born in Westville, IL, to Paul and Anna Timko on December 13, 1915. She was united in marriage to William Gillis on July 8, 1937 at St. Procopius Church. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1993. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; her five brothers, Joe, John, Mike, Steve, and her four sisters, Anna Mayoras, Katherine Vehrs, Helen Scott, & Marie Schweigerdt. Betty was employed by Musebeck Shoe Company and Sunbeam Electric Company. She is a long time member of St. Marys Church. She enjoyed playing Euchre with her long time friends. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and acrostics. She dearly loved her many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. She was happiest when they spent time with her. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and best friend, Esther Timko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, June 27, 2009, at St. Marys Church, 231 N State St, Westville. Father Steven Bird will officiate. Visitation will be 9am to 11am, Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville. Rosary will be held at 9:30am. She will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Elizabeths name to St. Marys School or Church and the Westville Rescue.
