Elizabeth Flaherty

Elizabeth R. Flaherty, 84, of Danville, passed away at 3:11 a.m. on April 25, 2007 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born November 16, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Walter R and Ruth A (Merideth) Young. She married Walter E. Flaherty in 1950. He precedes her in death. Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Marjorie M.Young of Danville. She attended Danville grade school and was a graduate of Danville High School. She was employed by Illinois Bell and retired after forty-two years as a long distance supervisor. Elizabeth was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth loved her animals Wrinkles and Middy, was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed listening to Ol Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra, and working in her rose garden. When she made a friend, it was for life and never turned them away when they needed help. A celebration of Elizabeths life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Hopper officiating. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at: www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
