Elizabeth E. Bergan

Westville - Elizabeth “Libby” Ellen Bergan, 97, of Westville, formerly of Danville, was called home to be with Jesus on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2026. She was born September 18, 1928, in Ogden, Illinois to Albert and Nora (Holler) Wallace.

Elizabeth was a wonderful mother to six children. Three of her sons, Barry, Jim, and Bill Bergan, as well as her daughter-in-law, Gina, were waiting in Heaven to welcome her home. She was also welcomed home by her parents, her sister, Mary, as well as her brothers, Francis, Leon, Warren, Robert, Stanely, and Harold. She will be deeply missed by the children she leaves behind, Wynne (Jim) Steinbaugh, Diana (Larry) Lytle, and Patrick Bergan. “Grandma Libby” was her greatest title. She had 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who were blessed with her unconditional love and support. She also leaves behind her brother, Paul Wallace; daughters-in-law, Sherry Bergan, Keli Bergan, and Maria Bergan; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Aside from being a mother, Libby worked for the Department of Veterans’ Affairs in Danville for many years before retiring. Her years after retirement were spent with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. She will be remembered for her resilience, her selflessness, and her willingness to give anything she had to someone who needed it.

A private memorial service will be held for the family at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.

Please join Libby’s family in sharing memories, photos, and videos of her life through her tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
