Elinore 'Janie' Royce

Danville - Elinore Jane “Janie” Royce, 78, of Danville passed away at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on June 13, 1935 in Danville, the daughter of Charles and Frances Anderson Grimes. She married Albert Louis Royce on September 19, 1952 in Tennessee. He preceded her in death in 1985. Surviving are a son, Mike (Bev) Royce of Danville; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Royce; three daughters, Penny Boren of Danville, Kathy Beaver of Danville, and Rita (Lynn) Schrader of Billings, MT; grandchildren, Niki, Tim, Stephenie, Andy, Jason, Brad, Stephanie, Brenda, Natalie, Betsy, and Tiffany; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four sons, Paul, Tim, Rick, and Eric Royce, five brothers, including a special brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Ruby Grimes, and a granddaughter Michelle. Janie had worked as a cook at the Vermilion County Nursing Home before moving on to a fireworks plant and later Newtons Cleaning. She was also a good babysitter, often looking after her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and traveling with her friends. A service to celebrate the life of Janie Royce will be held at 2 PM on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Reverend James Blue will officiate. Burial will follow at Lower Mound Cemetery in Covington. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service on Friday, also at Sunset in Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Presence Hospice or the donors choice.
