Elinor Lindley

Elinor E. Lindley, 90, of Danville, IL died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Hospital. Elinor was born to Edward E. and Lydia A. (Neumann) Connelly on August 1, 1920 in Lafayette, IN. Elinor was a 1938 graduate of Danville High School and worked at Dodsons Seed Store, Montgomery Wards, and later retired from the Vermilion County Board of Review. She was also a volunteer for the Douglas School PTA and taught Sunday school for many years at Lincoln Methodist Church where she was a member for over 50 years. Elinor married Carl K. Lindley in 1943 at Urbana, IL. He preceded her in death in 2002. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Karen) of Springfield, IL and Gary (Jamie Knight) of St. Joseph, IL, two granddaughters, Jennifer (Matthew) Larson of Milwaukee, WI, and Kate Lindley of St. Joseph, IL, one great-granddaughter, Lucy of Milwaukee, WI and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Lillian Connelly of Danville and Mary Jane Connelly of Morrison, IL. Elinor was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Elinor enjoyed reading, watching TV, feeding and watching her hummingbirds, and taking Sunday drives with her family. She often played cards; Solitaire, Yahtzee, UNO, Rummikub and Rack-O. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with friends through cards and letters every week. Elinor looked forward to being greeted by her two loving cats, Ozzie and Harriet. A Celebration of Elinors Life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 18, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor Peggy Emmert officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Faith in Action, Susan G.
