Elijah J. Adkins

Elijah Adkins 87 of Catlin passed away at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday May 17, 2005 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born November 11, 1917 in Paxton the son of Samual and Laura Pennington Adkins. Elijah married Frances E. Weburg on October 4, 1941 in Paxton; she preceded him on May 5, 1995. Surviving; one son Terry (Peggy) Adkins of Catlin, two daughters; Arlie Lynn (Troy) Yancey of Fitzgerald GA, Linda Rae (Robert) Parr of Champaign, one brother; John B. Adkins of Costa Rica, two sisters; Rebecca Mabry of Gibson City, Josephine Skonberg of Paxton, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Elijah had farmed the Paxton area for 25 yrs and later managed grain elevators in Paxton, Bellflower and Jamaica. He was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ He enjoyed John Deere antique tractors, music and reading. Elijah also enjoyed spending time with his family.
