Eleanor Stambaugh, 86, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:23pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at her home. She was born on December 12, 1926, in Sylvania, Parke County, IN, the daughter of Claude and Sylvia Ellen {Groves} Newnum, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Samuel John Stambaugh on April 25, 1942 in Indiana until his passing on December 8, 1978. She will be missed by: her sons, John Stambaugh of Kentucky & Joe (Donna) Stambaugh of Indiana; her daughters, Mary (Jim) McFarland of Kentucky, Carol Kargol & Sylvia Ford, both of Illinois; her 14 grandchildren; her 33 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Anna (Bertus) McQuerry of Indiana; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by: her three sons, Arnold Dale Stambaugh, Ronald Dean Stambaugh, & Larry Wayne Stambaugh; three brothers; and three sisters. Eleanor attended the Olivet Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, playing Yahtzee & cards, and crocheting. She also enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls. Eleanor deeply enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a wonderful, caring person and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. A celebration of Eleanor's life will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held Noon-2pm on Saturday before her service. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Olivet Church of the Nazarene.
