Bismarck- Eldridge L. Doonie Dolin, Jr., 66, of Bismarck passed away at 12:30 PM on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on November 12, 1943 in Henderson, KY to Eldridge L. Dolin, Sr. and Catherine Dolin. He married Wonda M. Madden on April 2, 1965 in Henderson, KY. She survives. Also surviving are 2 sons Jay Edward Dolin and Kevin Lee Dolin; 2 brothers Tommy Dolin and Bobby Dolin; 2 sisters Mary Lou (Jerry) Williams and JoAnn (Charlie) Waddell; and 3 grandsons Nicholas Wilkus, Kyle Dolin, and Erik Dolin. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathy Dolin. Doonie was enlisted in the United States Air Force, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He moved to Illinois from his hometown Henderson, KY in 1985 to begin work at Illinois Power, which later became Ameren. There he worked as a Journeyman Lineman and Foreman until his retirement in July, 2007. Doonie was a golf fanatic, making Harrison Park Golf Course in Danville his second home, and was a life member of the PGA Partners Club. He also belonged to the Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel, the American Legion, IBEW Local #51 and the UEBW Local and was a Trustee on the Bismarck Village Board. A service to celebrate the life of Eldridge L. Doonie Dolin, Jr. will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Pastors Herbert Smith and Jack Wagner will officiate. A visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, June 7 also at the funeral home. Pastor Jerry Williams will officiate graveside services that will take place at 11 AM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY on Thursday, June 10. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel, American Cancer Society, or to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
