Eileen Koerner

Danville - Genevieve "Eileen" (Marshall) Rouse Koerner of Danville passed away on September 13, 2016 at the Waters of Covington. She was born on October 31, 1920 the daughter of Vernon and Genevieve (Prather) Marshall of Perrysville, IN. She married Raymond J. Rouse on November 16, 1941, he preceded her in death in 1999. In 2001, she married Frederick R. Koerner, he also precedes her in death. Eileen will be deeply missed by her children; Shirley (Richard) Coake of Covington, IN, Russell (Karin) Rouse of Oxford, GA; sister-in-law, Lois Marshall; grandchildren, Debra (Tracy) Taulman of Danville; Cheryl (David) Cross of St. Cloud, FL; Catherine (Ben) Coomes of Versailles, KY; David (Amy) Rouse of Smyrna, GA; Matthew (Kassi) Rouse of Conyers, GA and twelve great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by brother, Austin (Inez) Marshall; sister, Vivian (William) Hughes, and brother, Marion Marshall. Eileen was a graduate of Perrysville High School, class of 1937, and a graduate of Lakeview School of nursing in 1941. She worked as an RN at several medical facilities and manufacturing operations in the Danville area and retired from St. Elisabeth Hospital where she started and managed the rehabilitation unit. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, travel and watching birds and wildlife. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of DAR, Vermilion County Homemakers Association for 53 years, the Sewing Club for 65 years, Christian Women's Association, an active member of Coal Branch Church in Perrysville, IN and also attended Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel and Second Church of Christ in Danville, IL. Memorials in Eileen's name may be made to Coal Branch Church or the Alzheimer's Association. A celebration of Eileen's life will be Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11 AM, Corey Stocksdale and Tracy Taulman will officiate. Visitation will be held prior 9:30-11 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61834.
