Edward O Lovett

Edward O. Lovett, a devoted Jehovah's Witness, died on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020. He was 82.

He was born Oct 26, 1938 to the late Jess and Edith Lovett. Edward learned carpentry from his father and a strong work ethic from both parents.

On June 7, 1958 he married Susan Jordan, and they honeymooned at the historic 1958 International Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in New York. They were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses, April 16, 1960. They worked as a team for nearly 60 years in everything they did.

Edward learned concrete work and carpentry while working for others. In 1965 he began his own business, Lovetts Construction specializing in concrete work, renovations and building homes. Lovetts Construction built its 100th home in 1980 and continued building many more after that. If you live in Vermilion County, it is likely you have walked on concrete that Lovetts Construction poured. He was affectionately known in the community as the "Concrete Man."

While running the business was a large part of Edwards life, his children remember that he was home every night for supper and said prayers with them at bedtime. He served as an elder in the local congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses for 48 years and was regularly involved in the public ministry right up to his death. He enjoyed discussing Gods Kingdom blessings for the earth with interested people.

In his business and personal life, Edward was known for honesty, patience, and simply very quietly doing whatever needed to be done. He often said, "Expect nothing, appreciate everything," and when making appointments his comment would be, "Well make it work," deferring to others schedules.

He is survived by his children, Larry Lovett (Kimberly), Lavana (Randall Hawkins); grandchildren, Christina (Josh Hires), Stephanie (Kevin Deutsch), Jordan Burr (Zach Mahoney), Jade (Terrance Dillard), Jasmin (David Hutson), Zachary Hawkins (Virva), Nathan Hawkins (Andrea), Isaac Hawkins (Kori), Judah Hawkins; six great-grandchildren and many other loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Susan P. Lovett.
