Edward Leo James, 64, of Danville, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 at VA Illiana Healthcare Systems in Danville. Ed was born on February 18th, 1948, in Danville, the son of Albert A. and Betty J. (Welker) James. He married Laurie G. Ehrich on August 17th, 1975 in Georgetown. He is survived by his loving wife-Laurie, who was blessed with 36 years of marriage; two children- Brock E. James and Amber D. James both of Danville; brother- Gary A. (Jan) James of Oakwood; three precious grandchildren- Mikayla, Nathaniel and Alexis Forthenberry; sister-in-law- Barbara (Jimmy) Taylor of Attica, Indiana; brother-in-law- David (Ellen) Ehrich of Dana, Indiana; several Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his cat-Timmy who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and Laurie's parents- Robert and Dorothy Ehrich. Ed graduated from Danville High School in 1966. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and served until 1972, when he was honorably discharged. He attended DACC and worked at the VA Medical Center for 32 years in histopathology and EMS, until he retired in 2001 where he was voted an outstanding employee. Ed was a member of Second Church of Christ, VFW # 728, American Legion Post # 51, National Rifle Association and was a past member of the Illiana Civil War Society. Ed enjoyed traveling, civil war reenacting in his younger years, and most recently country dancing with Laurie. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his precious grandchildren and cat Timmy. He always worked hard in keeping his yard and truck in nice condition. A Celebration of the life of Edward Leo James will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8th, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Drew Mentzer officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park, with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #210. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
