Edward C. Bud Koebrich, 83, of Danville, passed away at 4:27 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2007 at Danville Care Center. Edward was born on April 16, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Edward Carl and Agnes Marie (Fitzgerald) Koebrich Sr. . He married Winona Lee Hopewell on December 29, 1945 in Danville at St. Pauls Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2007. He is survived by his three sons- Terry E. (Carol) Koebrich of Danville, Mark E. (Cathy) Koebrich of Centennial, Colorado, and Jeffry M. (Teresa) Koebrich of Danville; four daughters- Christine A. (Fred) Freidenstein of Duluth, Georgia, Mary M. (Louis) Reik of Danville, Susan M. (Tim) Green of Austin, Texas, and Sharon M. (Ross) Kness of St. Charles, Missouri; one brother- Richard Koebrich of Champaign; three sisters- Margaret Bennett of Arlington, Texas, Jean Goshorn of Garden City, Kansas, and Rosemary (Jerry) Stitt of Danville; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Ed graduated from Danville High School in 1942. After high school he attended Illinois Wesleyan University. On December 7, 1942, exactly one year after Pearl Harbor, Ed joined the United States Navy and served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade until 1945. After being discharged from the military, Ed married Winona Lee Hopewell on December 29, 1945 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville. Ed worked for Prudential Insurance Co. as a salesman for 35 years until he retired in 1984. He was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. Ed loved to fish, travel and play tennis. He was a member of the Danville Tennis Club for several years. Ed and Winona built a lake home near Riley, Indiana, where they and their family enjoyed many days of fishing and hiking around the area. Ed also enjoyed doing building projects. Eds greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial For Edward Koebrich will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2007 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville, with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 3:30 p.m. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
