Edward E. Gene Miller, Sr., 80, of Danville, went to meet his Lord at 10:12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at his residence. Ed was born March 9, 1927, in Danville, the son of Homer and Agnes R. (Scott) Miller. He married Wilma LaJean Jones on November 27, 1948 in Danville. She survives. To carry on Eds legacy is one son, Edward E. (Annette) Miller, Jr. of Islamorada, FL; three daughters, Linda (Michael) Cottle of Danville, Diana (Jerry) Richter of Lebanon, IN, and Jaci Miller of Danville; one brother, William Jack (Jeanne) Miller of Port Hueneme, CA; eight grandchildren, Jerry W. Richter, Jr. of Zionsville, IN, Angela E. Fall of Lebanon, IN, Edward E. Miller III, Jason S. Miller, Capt. James R. Miller, Dennis M. Miller, Tommera T. King and Joseph Miller all of Danville and nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Ed attended Diamond Grade School and Oakwood High School. He was a graduate of Danville Junior Colleges School of Practical Nursing. Ed was the first chief respiratory therapist at Lakeview Memorial Hospital when the program was started in 1970. He later went to work with Plaster & Cement Mason Local #143 where he retired and had served as a past business agent. Ed served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater and later as a courier for the White House during the Truman Administration. He was a past 32nd Degree Mason of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge and Ansar Shrine. Ed was a member of Union Corner United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors; especially mushrooming and hunting. Ed loved all of his family dearly. A celebration of Eds life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Patti Wise officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Eds name to Union Corner United Methodist Church.
