Edward C. Edgington, 90, of Tilton and formerly of Potomac passed away on August 2, 2008 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. Edward was born August 18, 1917 in Blount Township, Illinois son of William and Laura Ann Richards Edgington. He married Thelma Tuttle on August 17, 1940. She preceded him in March of 2001. Survivors include children: Edwin (Alice) Edgington of Chattanooga, TN; and Belinda Joy (Chuck) Van Duyn of Sumner, IL. Dennis (Jan) Edgington of Mapleton, IL; 11 grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Edward served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later retired as a union bricklayer, working out of the Brick Layers Local 17 in Champaign, IL. He was very dedicated to the building and beginning operations of the Valparaiso Christian Childrens Home. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Danville for a number of years, and served as Deacon and usher at the church for several years. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, working on the farm and spending time with his beloved family and friends. A Celebration of Edwards Life will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Rudie officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Tuesday evening at Sunsets Community & Life Tribute Center 3550 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Chapel). Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorial may be made in his name to Faith Baptist Church.
