RANTOUL - Edward "Dean" Moore, 78, of Rantoul, passed away peacefully Monday, June 1, 2015 at his home. Born June 23, 1936 in Seymour, Iowa, he was the son of Carl L. and Faye (Flitcroft) Moore. He married Vinita Bynum on January 20, 1955 in Roswell, New Mexico. Dean served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force, working as a military firefighter for over 20 years. Following his retirement from the military, he worked as a firefighter at Willard Airport in Champaign. Dean was a member of Christian Life Church in Rantoul, where he worked many years as an usher and greeter. He enjoyed listening to country music, playing the guitar and accordion, and he was a huge fan of the show, NCIS. He was known as being very ornery, but was a very lovable guy. He will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vinita Moore of Rantoul; two sons, Edward Jr. (Joyce) Moore of Westland, Michigan and Roger (Kimberly) Moore of Superior, Wisconsin; two daughters, Tammy (Robin) Pfrang of Rantoul and Sherry (Debbie Hendon) Moore of Champaign; one brother, Carl (Theresa) Moore of Marion, Iowa; three sisters, Patricia (Ernest) Wright of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Barbara (Ray) Chavez of Corvellis, Montana and Linda Clark of Colorado; eight grandchildren, Kayla Moore, Shelley Moore, Melissa (Charles) Anderson, Jordan (Jon) Scott, Talia (Ron) Walker, Julian Bintner, Austin Moore and Nikolas Moore; two step grandchildren, Virginia (Charles) Murr and Edwin Stiltner; six great grandchildren, Marley and Sophia Walker and Faith, Dalton, Wyatt and Elizabeth Anderson; and three step great grandchildren, Alyssa, Jessica and Avery Murr. He was preceded in death by his parents; three nephews; one niece; and one great nephew. A memorial service to celebrate Dean's life will be at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 710 N. Neil Street in Champaign. Military honors will be presented by the Mahomet American Legion Post 1015. Memorials have been established for the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association.
