Edward Louis Burmeister, age 90, of Danville, passed away at 1:50 am on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville. He was born August 29, 1916 in Danville the son of Louis and Emma (Dahms) Burmeister. He married Marjorie Pratt. They were married for over 50 years. She preceded him in death. Edward is survived by one niece: Charlotte Bireline of Danville; and two cousins: Bill Engle of Danville and Martha Nesbitt of Catlin. He was preceded in death by his birth parents, a step mother: Ella Burmeister, his wife, a sister: Mildred Rewerts, infant brother, and a special aunt and uncle: Bill and Selma Engle whom he lived with for part of his life. Edward served in the United States Army during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, the Philippines and Japan. He worked as a machinist for Allith Prouty Inc. until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Danville where he served as an Elder and usher for many years. He was also a member of the Lutheran Laymens League, Aid Association for Lutherans, Vermilion County AARP Association, American Legion Post #51, and a lifetime member of the DAV. Edward enjoyed all sports and was an avid Cub and Bears fan. He loved fishing, dancing and spending time with his friends.
