Edward Lagacy, 71, of Georgetown, passed away at 6:10pm, Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, IL. He was born on November 4, 1949, in Chicago, IL, the son of Henry and Edna {Perry} Lagacy. He was united in marriage to Lana Jo Huddleson on December 29, 1973, at First Church of Christ in Georgetown. She will miss him dearly. He also is survived by his sons, Justin Lagacy & Sean Lagacy; his granddaughter, Makaelyn Lagacy; his siblings, Carolyn (Dan) Wigginton, Antoinette (Jim) Fritz, John (Barb) Lagacy, Frances (Kathy) Lagacy, Robert Lagacy; his sister-n-law, Mary Lagacy; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gerald Lagacy. Edward earned his Bachelors degree and then gained his Masters from Eastern Illinois University in education. He taught in the Westville School District in Industrial Education for over 30 years and served as Assistant Principal for many years at Westville High School. Within his time, he was presented the Golden Ruler Award in teaching. He was also the Wrestling Coach for Westville and was known to begin the wrestling program in the Junior High where they won their first State Championship. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and participated in the Drug Free for Teens Program. Edward was a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown where he served as Elder for many years as well as taught Sunday School. He was an active volunteer for the Food Bank helping to distribute food to those in need and coordinated the Grundy Mountain Mission School gifts for Christmas. He was also a member of the NRA. A celebration of Edwards life will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, October 4, 2021, at First Church of Christ, 503 N Main Street, Georgetown with Phil Miller officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00am to 1:00pm on Monday prior to his service at the Church. A Graveside Committal will be held at 4:30pm on Monday October 4, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.
