Thursday morning, 9:00am, November 19, 2010, while mom lay sleeping, daddy reached for her hand, just as in marriage, to take her home and be by his side once again. Edna Depp was born in Barren County, Glasgow, KY, on August 6, 1919, the daughter of Clovis D and Suzie Jane Wyatt. Mom would always talk about having to put in the tobacco plants behind two old mules; one of course was named Ol Blue. She never missed an opportunity to visit her home church, Concord Baptist in Kentucky. In February of 1939, Edna married Elbert Curly Lane in Glasgow, KY, and spent close to 65 years of being married together before his passing in 2002. From that union, came 5 children; James Clovis (Patty) Lane of Tenn., Dorothy Faye (Jim) Smith of Oakwood, Richard Lewis (Betty) Lane of Muncie, Donilou (Ron) Ratliff of Tenn., and Janice Olene (Bill) Brownfield of Urbana. Her 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, her sister, Ruby Hope of Fithian, and many nieces and nephews also survive Edna. Her parents, husband, Elbert Curly Lane, 3 brothers, 5 sisters, 3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews preceded Edna in death. Mom help daddy farm while living in Kentucky, and later moved to Muncie, Illinois in 1953. Living in Muncie, Edna worked at the Muncie Grade School as a cook, when school was in session, then helped maintain the grade school during summer vacation, worked at the Pizza Factory, in St, Joseph, as well as for Dr. Gulicks office in Muncie, Illinois. Mom was a long time member of the Concord Baptist Church in Rural KY, and also attended Muncie Baptist Church. Mom enjoyed her many flowers, family gatherings, and reading her Bible. She will be missed by all that knew her and all of us who enjoyed her good cooking. A celebration of the life of Edna Lane will begin at 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel located at 105 East South Main Street in Oakwood, IL, with burial to take place next to her husband Curly at Stearns Cemetery in rural Fithian. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-8pm on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Chapel. Memorial donation may be made in Ednas name to the Muncie Baptist Church in Muncie, IL. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
