Edith M. Miethe, 85, of Georgetown, IL left this life to be with her Lord on March 12, 2021 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville. She was born on December 7, 1935, in Georgetown to Russell and Helen {Wilkerson} Long. She was united in marriage to Raymond R. Miethe in Georgetown on August 27, 1954, until his passing. Edith graduated from Georgetown High School in 1954 and attended Danville Area Community College as a Medical Secretary. She was a Christian, having been baptized into Jesus Christ in September 1961. She was a member of the First Church of Christ and had served as teacher to children of various ages. She had also taught the senior adult Truth Seeker Sunday School Class. She had also tutored the Bible in many homes on a one-on-one basis. Edith had worked as secretary of the First Church of Christ, as a supervisor at the Chicago Molded Plastic Plant and retired from the United Samaritan Medical Center as the Admitting Specialist of the Registration Department. She will be missed by her daughters, Donna J. Chambers of Westville & Penny S. Miethe of Danville; three granddaughters, Hope (Jeremy) Johnson of Danville, Kayla (Derrick) Fox of Indiana, & Kyla Miethe of Danville; three great grandchildren, Ariell Rayann Chambers, Zeke Richard Fox, and Samantha Raylynn Johnson; her brothers, Charles Edward Long of Brooksville, FL & Donald R. Long of Danville; her sister, Ruth Helen Martin of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; her daughter, Cheryl L. Miethe; her grandsons, Raymond Richard Chambers & Eric Robert Miethe; her sister, Rose Ann Murray; her brothers, William Hl. Long, James L. Long, & Allen Russell Long. As were her wishes, Edith will be accorded cremation rites and no services will be held at this time. Her family was assisted by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.
