Edith Lucille Bates

Edith Bates (1927-2019) passed away peacefully on October 2, 2019, in Danville, Illinois. Edith Grogan was born in Lawrence County, Illinois as the youngest of seven children . She married Fred Bates in 1947 and together they raised three children, Linda, Sue, and John. Edith enjoyed gardening, canning her famous tomatoes, playing cards, camping, boating, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, son, John, and, daughter, Sue Daniels. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hagen and four grand-daughters, Tracy (Joe) Walton, Dawn Thoma, Gayle (Steve) Beebe, and Nicole McClatchey; as well as four great-grandsons, Hunter Walton, Tanner Walton, Joel Beebe, and Mitchell Beebe. Per Ediths wishes she will be cremated, and then buried with her husband, Fred, at Sunset Funeral Park in Danville, IL.
