With great sadness, we announce the passing of Edith “Edie” Keppy, 83, of Rantoul, who left us peacefully at home on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, of natural causes with family by her side.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
Edie was born on April 3, 1940, in Kinmundy, Ill., to A.J. West and Violet “Pauline” (Mosser) West. She grew up with her brother, Paul.
In her early adult years, she enjoyed a house full of children and stepchildren, who brought her joy and laughter.
Edie had a very successful career, having her own business for many years and working with several colleges as a recruiter. She received too many awards to list, but she was most proud of her achievements and travels. She loved to explore new places and cultures and made friends wherever she went.
Edie was a woman of many passions and talents. She loved to golf, dance and ride her motorcycle. She was always up for an adventure and a challenge. She was beautiful, fun, generous and independent. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and also loved her granddogs. She always felt closest to God in nature and appreciated the beauty of his creation.
Edie was preceded in death by the love of her life, dearest friend and confidant, Michael Kutzko; her parents; her brother; her son-in-law, Bill Lineburg; her beloved sister-in-law, Alice Wes; and stepdaughter, Jane Keppy.
She is survived by her daughters, Victoria L. Lineburg, Paula S. Quinlan and Terri (Dwain) Keppy Kilburg; her son-in-law, Thomas G. Quinlan; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and close friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove, Rantoul. Fr. Joel Phelps will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rantoul. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Lux Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
