Eddie L. Long

Eddie L. Long, 86, passed this life September 3, 2006. Eddie was born on June 24, 1920, the son of Herbert and Ada Long of Hoopeston. He married Sally A. Davis on January 21, 1946. She survives. Eddie is survived by four children, Eddie (Retta Schumacher) Long II of Florida, Rick (Ashley Billings) Long of Westville, Debbie (Terry) Pollitt of Danville, and Brenda (Herb) Loveall of Covington, IN; three sisters Ardieth, Mary, and Betty; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Kenny Vivier of Danville. He was preceded in death by a special daughter-in-law, Denise K. Long, four brothers, infant Harold, Raymond, Elmer, and Gene, and three sisters, Helen, Elsie, and Reba. Eddie served during WWII in the 3rd Infantry Division. He was a retired carpenter and played a major role in his sons auction. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, watching wildlife, and his special pet, Murphy. A gathering in remembrance of his life, welcoming all friends and loved ones, will be held at the family farm on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
