Eddie Heidbrider, 83, passed away on August 20, 2024 at his home in Cayuga. He was born on January 8, 1941 to the late Vivian and Fred Heidbrider in Cayuga. He attended Cayuga High School and enlisted in the United States Airforce, where he proudly served his country for 4 years. He married Roberta “Bert” Reitz on October 12, 1985. She preceded him in death in 2022.
Eddie was a millwright at the GM Central Foundry for over 25 years before his retirement. He also worked at the Thompson grain elevator for several years. Following his eventual retirement, he took several jobs welding on his own. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his grandkids & great-grandkids. He collected guns and loved to fly, even if it meant on his computer simulated flyer. He recently celebrated his 50th year as a member of the American Legion Post 263.
He is survived by his children Mark Heidbrider and Marla (Todd) Gee; his grandchildren Kylie (Levi Looney) Heidbrider, Keri (Joe Kinneer) Heidbrider, Bryce (Daisy) Gee, and Ryleigh Gee; and great-grandchildren Kaidyn Heidbrider and Tanner O’Toole. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Rebeca “Becky” (Steve) Colson; and good friend, Sue Bennett.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister Sondra Jones, daughter-in-law Amy Heidbrider, and best friend Jack Bennett.
Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded by Sunset Funeral Home’s DeVerter Chapel in Cayuga. He will be placed to rest with military honors following cremation at Eugene Cemetery with his wife Bert. Online condolences can be shared with his family at
