Eddie Cargo

Edward “Eddie” Cargo, 61, of Rantoul, IL, passed away with his family at his bedside on the morning of Monday, November 20, 2023  at Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL.

He was born May 12, 1962 in Joliet, IL, a son of Donald and Mary (Brown) Cargo.

He is survived by 4 children, Ashley (Tyler Hall) Cargo of Rantoul; Andria (Jeff) Herbert of Rantoul; Allysen (Adam) Gauze of Fisher, IL; Charles (Taylor) Cargo of Rantoul, his mother Mary of Rantoul, 7 siblings, Danny Cargo of Rantoul; Bodie (Jeri) Cargo of Rantoul; Theresa (Mike) Cohoon of Farmer City, IL; Mary Flynn of Dewey, IL; Mark (Cindy) of Gifford; David (Marica) Cargo of O’Fallon, MO; John Cargo of Champaign, IL, and 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.

Eddie graduated from Rantoul Township High School in 1980 where he ran track and played football. He worked construction all his life.  He continued his running and completed many marathons.  He was a fan of the Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini.  Eddie also enjoyed camping and Kayaking.

Eddie fought many battles in his life and he always maintained a positive attitude, in his final days he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

There will be a visitation from 2 – 4 on Saturday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul.
