Perrysville, Ind. - Earl R. Holycross, 100, formerly of Perrysville and a resident of The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana, passed away at 9:10 a.m. EST Monday, February 24, 2014 at The Waters of Covington. Earl was born July 18, 1913 in Perrysville, Indiana, the son of the late Mantford and Mary Mammie Moudy Holycross. He married Fern Gilmore on January 29, 1949 in Danville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2013. Survivros include three daughters, Debbie(Joe)Davan of Covington, Indiana; Darlene Holycross of Perrysville, Indiana and Diana(Fred)Kurz of Tampa, Florida; two sons, Denny(Kim)Holycross of Sullivan, Indiana and Scott Holycross of Perrysville, Indiana; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Stoup of Covington, Indiana and Mary Mildred Fishers of Indianapolis, Indiana. Earl was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Earl was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church west of Covington, and also attended the Union Corner Church in Danville, Illinois. He enjoyed playing checkers, bingo, going coon hunting and bowling. Funeral services: 3 p.m. EST Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church; Officiating: Rev. Brenda Burnsworth; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana; Visitation: Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 1:30 p.m. EST until time of services at the church. Contributions may be made to the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, 7114 West U.S. Highway 136, Covington, Indiana 47932. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
