Earl D. Olson, 89, of Urbana, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Earl was born July 22, 1935, in Rural Gifford the son of Fred and Tennie Aden Olson. He married Carole Thomas September 4, 1954.

Earl was the founder of Earl & Son Construction and took great pride in his work. He worked side by side with his son, Mark, for many years, building a lasting legacy of dedication and craftsmanship.

He deeply treasured time with his family, finding his greatest joy in the moments shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carole Olson; his son, Mark Olson of Urbana; his daughter, Debra (Lynn) Johnson of Ogden; his sister, Marcella Stephanou of Rantoul; granddaughters, Wendy Johnson (Ben Fulk), Tiffany Johnson, and Holly Johnson (Jeff Kirby); and great-grandchildren, Caleb Johnson, Taylor Fulk, and Paige Johnson.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Elmer, Eldred, Eugene, and Ervin Olson; and his sisters, Margie Huls and Mildren Sjoken.

A memorial service to celebrate Earl’s life will be held on Friday May 23, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home's Lux Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul, IL 61866.
