Earl Stanley Mellon Jr.

Earl Stanley Mellon Jr., a cherished member of the Danville community, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on February 6, 1941, in Danville, Illinois, Earl was a proud graduate of Westville High School. He dedicated 32.6 years of his life to General Motors, serving as a master electrician, a role that underscored his commitment to craftsmanship and precision.

Earl's service to his country in the Navy has left a lasting impact, reflecting his dedication and courage. He was known for his warm spirit and unwavering support for his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Kyle (Susan Schop) Mellon, Damon Mellon, and Wade Mellon. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Brandon Mellon, Paige Mellon, Cameron Mellon, and Aylivia Mellon, as well as his great grandson, Silas Mellon.

Earl's parents, Earl (Pauline) Mellon Sr. preceded him in death, but his memory will forever be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Officiating will be Gary Milton. Burial will follow at Gundy Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
