Earl Eugene Lindsey, 76, of Urbana, IL, formerly of Bismarck, IL passed away at 3:10 PM on May 17, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Earl was born on May 15, 1949 in Danville, IL the son of Carl and Helen (Myers) Lindsey. He married Jacqueline Siddens on January 25, 1969 in Bismarck, IL and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Lindsey of Urbana, IL, his children, Kyle (Amanda) Lindsey, Kym (Matt) Knight, Kris (Mike) Reynolds and Kandy Lindsey, seven grandsons, one granddaughter, several great grandchildren, one brother, Ray (Kay) Lindsey, two sisters, Mary (Bob) Shutt and Jean Brooks as well as several nieces and nephews.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Chuck Brooks.
Earl graduated from Bismarck High School in the class of 1967, earned his bachelor’s from SIU in 1971, his masters from EIU in 1974 and his administrative certification from the U of I in 1986. He retired from the Bismarck Community School District #1 after 34 years of service as a teacher and principal. Earl served on the IESA Board of Directors from 1995 - 2003 and received the Outstanding Young Member award from the NVATA in 1981 for his distinguished service as a young teacher of Agricultural Occupations.
Earl grew up in the rural Bismarck area and raised and showed registered Guernsey dairy cattle with his brother, Ray Lindsey. Over the years, he coached the Bismarck boys Jr High and High School basketball teams as well as his grandchildren’s basketball teams. In his free time he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Illini basketball team.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, IL, 3940 N Vermillion Street Danville, Illinois 61834. Miles Clark will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 2-4:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in Earl’s memory to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
