E. ARLENE ROBERTS E. Arlene Roberts, 93, of Danville, passed away at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Arlene was born on June 19, 1915 in Nobole, Kentucky, the daughter of John R. and Harriette J. (Kidwell) Grinestaff. She married Clair Roberts, in a surprise leap year wedding, on February 29, 1940 at the First Church of Christ in Hoopeston. He preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by one sister- Ruby Zorns Hissong of Clearwater, Florida; one sister-in-law- Berniece Roberts of Lafayette, Indiana; five nieces and nephews- Jane Lahr and Betty Brown of Lafayette, Indiana, Barbara Watson of Danville, John Zorns of Bartlett, Illinois and Jim Zorns of Nashville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and five sisters. Arlene moved to Illinois in 1923. She worked at A& P Grocery in Danville and Hoopeston for 30 years. She was a member of Central Christian Church and was involved in the American Legion Post #210. Arlene and Clair loved to travel to Florida every year. She also enjoyed flowers and feeding and watching the birds. Her life was filled with the joy of longtime friendships. Arlene loved life and always enjoyed having fun. A Celebration of the Life of E. Arlene Roberts will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Pastor Rod Godley officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Danville National Cemetery.
