Danville - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dwaine Clayton Dick who departed this life peacefully at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois on February 4, 2026, at the age of 86.

Dwaine was born on October 17, 1939, in Richmond Center, Ohio to Clarence and Iva Dick. He attended school in Andover, Ohio, graduating from Andover High School in 1957. He attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. As a member of the U. S. Army, he served his country with honor and integrity.

After completing an internship with General Electric of Ohio at their School of Financial Management, he went on to employment as an accountant for the company over the next twenty-five years, first in Coshocton, Ohio then in Chicago Heights, Illinois and finally in Danville, Illinois until that division closed. He went on to work for the Great Plains Model Division of HOBBICO in Urbana, Illinois as a cost analyst until his retirement.

Dwaine’s passions included golf and tennis when he was younger, putting together puzzles as he had gotten older, and feeding the wildlife in his backyard, including a small herd of six to eight deer.

He is survived by his children, Bryan (Lynn) Dick of Mercer, PA and Tracie (Mike) O’Neill of Bloomington, IL; his grandchildren – Alycia Marfongella of Bloomington, IL, Jared (Analiese) Dick of Grove City, PA, Stefan (Alivia) Dick of Lenoir, NC, and Jesse Dick of Mercer, PA; his great-grandchildren – Auden, Weston, and Declan, all from Grove City, PA; a sister, Eleanor Kosnoc of Greenville, PA and a brother, Carl Dick of Dorset, OH

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lee (Eich); a daughter, Michelle Dick of Danville, IL.; his parents, and a brother, Dale Dick of Greenville, PA.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 3-5pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. In Dwaine’s memory, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
