Dr. Stewart M. Lorenz, age 82, of Tilton, died on June 24, 2007 at 8:42 am at Provena USMC in Danville. He was born on July 5, 1924 in Fort Wayne, IN the son of Stewart and Marie (Dugid) Lorenz. He married Pauline L. Knipple on October 4, 1947 in Fort Wayne, IN. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2006. Dr. Lorenz is survived by one daughter: Debra Adler of Mesa, AZ, and one granddaughter: Summer (John) Stone of Indianpolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son in law: Ory Adler, and three sisters: Donna Honor Berning, Jean Squeaky Riggs, and Lillian Lolly Scott. Dr. Lorenz was an Optometrist practicing in Danville for over 45 years before retiring in 1986. He served as an interpreter under General Pattons command in the United States Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. Dr. Lorenz enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, Pauline, and together won awards for the Waltz. He was a Ham Radio operator, enjoyed target shooting, loved photography, and developing his own black and white photos. He loved music and was able to play any type by ear on the organ. Some of the most memorable evenings were spent with family and friends around the organ. Dr. Lorenz was a past member of the Elks Club and American Legion. Per Dr. Stewarts wishes there will be no services. Burial will be held at Danville National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Danville.
