Dr. Glenda Farmer Kaplan Camps, 77, of Danville passed away on September 2, 2026 at Accolade Healthcare in Danville. She was born on April 6, 1949 to the late Obey and Delna {Beadner} Farmer. Born and raised in Kentucky, she came to the area after first obtaining her nursing degree and working in the mental health field for several years. She later earned her Doctorate Degree at the Colorado University School of Medicine and completed her years of residency. She was licensed by the State of Illinois in 1996 and worked her entire career as an OB/ GYN in the Danville area for two decades, eventually retiring in 2017. She mentored many medical students from the U of I and loved teaching them.
For a short period, she and Dr. Terence Young were the only OB providers in Danville. She and Dr. Young shared call and kept the OB department open until new providers became available. She was awarded the Virginia Apgar Award in 2005. She was a proud supporter of the March of Dimes.
In her spare time, Dr. Kaplan enjoyed reading, so much so that she joined a book club. She also enjoyed crocheting, making origami figures, singing, and playing the piano. Her family, friends, and coworkers alike will remember her joyous, loving nature and will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Camps and her brother George Farmer.
She will be sorely missed by her children Elizabeth Kaplan, Rebecca Shank, and Mark Camps; her siblings Felicia Coulter, David Farmer, and Obie Farmer; as well as her very good friends Michael and Thereasa Hubbard and their family; Tara and Doug Hafner; and all of her staff and the OB nurses.
A visitation will be held from 11 am – 1 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. A funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 1 pm that day, also at the funeral home.
