; Doyne H. Dwiggins, 95, of Danville, passed away at 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville where she had resided for three years. She was born April 23, 1917, in Newport, Indiana, the daughter of the late Oscar and Gladys Brown Hollingsworth. She married Wilson Dwiggins on May 27, 1939 in Waynetown, Indiana. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 4, 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Janet (Phil)Leisch and Marianne (Alan) Carter, both of Danville and one son, Ed (Brenda) Dwiggins of Danville; three grandchildren, Heath Dwiggins of Alexandria, Va., Stacy (Derek) Edwardson of Chicago, and Troy (Emily) Carter of Danville as well as a great-granddaughter due in February; two brothers, Marion Hollingsworth of Danville and Paul (Janet) Hollingsworth if Newport, In. and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, seven brothers, and three nieces. Doyne graduated from Newport High School and attended business school in Terre Haute, Indiana. She went to work at WDAN Radio in 1975, and retired in 1982. She was a longtime active member of the Second Church of Christ where she was in the Kum Dubbles class, and also volunteered at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, and she and her husband Wilson especially enjoyed their many trips to Virginia to visit their son. She also enjoyed working with flowers, and watching Illini Basketball and Chicago Cubs baseball. Doyne will forever be remembered for her great sense of humor. A celebration of the life of Doyne Dwiggins will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Officiating services will be Drew Mentzer. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation of family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Doyne's name to the 2nd Church of Christ or Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman.
