Doyle Michael Thompson

Doyle Michael Thompson, 58, of Georgetown, passed away at 11:01pm, Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. On July 20, 1956, he was born in Louisville, KY, to Buddy and Shirley {Downs} Thompson. He was united in marriage to Lynda Kagels on December 31, 1977, in Danville. He is survived by: his loving wife, Lynda Thompson; his parents, Buddy & Shirley Thompson of Westville; his children, Doyle Michael Thompson II of Danville, Justin Ryan Thompson of Fithian, & Amanda Nichole (Dustin) Cockrell of Ogden; his grandchildren, Anna, Jenna, Ethan, Alex, Wyatt, & Olivia; and his brothers, Ronald Thompson of South Carolina & Timothy (Leslie) Thompson of Georgetown. Doyle loved the state of Texas which he called “home.” He was a proud Veteran of the US Army for 14 years and worked as a mechanic. He had also worked at General Motors Tilton Foundry. He loved animals of all kinds. He was known to be an extreme collector and collected many things extensively including: comic books, coins, and movies. Doyle loved spending time with his grand kids. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Doyles life will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Gerald McPhillips officiating. A visitation will be held 11am-2pm on Thursday at the funeral home prior to his service. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Cancer Research for Lymphoma.
