Douglas W. Ronk

Douglas Ronk, 53, of Oakwood passed away on July 19, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Urbana on December 14, 1969. He attended Catlin schools and graduated with the Class of 1988. He furthered his education at the University of Illinois receiving his bachelor's degree in animal sciences.

He spent over 20 years in farming and Agriculture Sales. Most recently, he was co-owner of Oakwood Restoration and Blasting Services. Throughout his life, he held a passion for horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and had a particular fondness of showing halter horses. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. More than anything else, Doug enjoyed spending time with his kids and family.

Doug married Rae Ann Boggs in Danville on May 18, 1996. She survives. Also surviving are their children Eli and Ella Ronk, and his parents Sandy and Steve Meade of Fairmount and Paul Ronk. He will be missed by his siblings David (Cindy) Ronk of Buckeye Lake, Ohio; Mac (Danelle) Meade of Crown Point, Indiana; Shane Meade of Oakwood; Scott (Missy) Meade of Catlin; and Ryan Ronk of Oakwood and many cousins, nieces, and nephews as well.

Doug has been reunited in death with his close maternal grandmother Dorothy Harrison, as well as his paternal grandparents, maternal grandfather, father-in-law John Boggs, and brother-in-law Craig Gathmann.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 1- 3 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes Oakwood Chapel located at 105 E. South Main Street in Oakwood, IL 61858. A memorial service celebrating Dougs life will follow on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor Patti Wise will be officiating. He will be placed to rest at Oakwood Cemetery.
