Douglas “Doug” D. See, 61, passed away on October 11, 2025 at his home in Kingman, Indiana. He was born on December 23, 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the third of five sons to Nellie and Howard See. They preceded him in death.
Throughout his career, Doug did a little bit of everything, from furniture refinishing and commercial painting to roofing, driving a truck, and carpentry. His versatility in trades exemplified his ability and desire to engage in hands-on work that benefited both himself and those around him. A true jack of all trades, Doug was also a master woodsman. He found joy in rooting, rock and gem hunting, mushrooming, fishing, and hunting, always seeking adventure in the great outdoors. His love for nature extended to walking through the woods, where he searched for unique gems and Indian artifacts, further showcasing his affinity for the natural world.
Doug's artistic spirit flourished through his talents in various mediums. He created beautiful paintings, carved canes and walking sticks, and expressed himself in a manner that reflected his individuality. His artistic pursuits not only highlighted his creativity but also his dedication to craftsmanship. Known for his intelligence and conversational prowess, Doug had the remarkable ability to engage in discussions on a multitude of topics with almost anyone and was well known for his eclectic personality. These combined traits not only made him a delightful companion but also a source of knowledge and inspiration in his community.
Doug is survived by his brothers Tony, James, Mike, and Eric See.
A visitation will take place from 11 am – 1pm on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home’s DeVerter Chapel at 215 N. Division Street, Cayuga, Indiana. A service will follow at 1 pm that afternoon, also at the funeral home. He will be buried next to his parents at Rush Creek Cemetery in Tangier following services.
