Douglas Doug Lee Hill, 50, of Potomac, passed away at 8:38 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Doug was born on May 2, 1957 in Quanah, Texas, the son of Clyde and Laverne (Piercy) Hill Sr. He married Donna Overmier on September 18, 1992 in Champaign. She survives. He is survived by his daughter Brittany Renee Hill of Round Mountain, Texas; one brother- Clyde Hill Jr. and his wife Sandra of Eldorado, Oklahoma; one sister- Sheila Frankel and her husband Don of Woodland Hills, California; and several nieces and nephews. Doug graduated from Eldorado High School in 1975. After high school he joined the United States Army. Following the service Doug attended Western Oklahoma and Okmulgee College of Technology were he obtained his degree in boot and saddle making. His family was his greatest treasure and he looks forward to a pain free life at last with his beloved parents, brother- Ricky Hill, sister- Brenda Pitts and his Lord Jesus in heaven. He was also the greatest treasure to his extended family, the kids at Thursday School at East Park Church of Christ, where he was a cookie server and was known as the funny man. He was a cowboy at heart and loved to ride horses with his little brothers BJ and Seth. He loved to teach them all the skills he knew, building things, leatherwork and how to grow up to be a good Christian men. He was also like family to those he worked with at Rantoul Products, VA Hospital and East Park Church. He took great pride whenever he taught small group classes at Sunday night church. Doug was a boot and saddle craftsman and enjoyed making custom boots, apparel or anything a customer wanted. He worked almost nonstop for two last minute Christmas gifts for customers in Champaign for the last two years. He was the light of his familys life and he will be truly missed. Doug loved tractors, taking pictures, his horses and chickens, gardening, his farm and his two dogs Barney and Mopsy. Most of all Doug just enjoyed making people smile. In his spirit of love and giving to others, Dougs final gift was being an organ and tissue donor. A Memorial Service for Douglas Doug Lee Hill will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday. January 3, 2008 at East Park Church of Christ, with Dennis Floyd officiating. Sunsets Community and Life Tribute Center is in charge of arrangements. Additional services and burial will be held at a later date at Eldorado Cemetery in Eldorado, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the East Park Church of Christ or to the East Park Church of Christ Food Pantry.
