Doug Macklin

A very good man, Doug Macklin, 75, of Danville, IL, left us at 1:50pm, Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on February 24, 1943, in Coldwater, MI. He was the youngest of 11 children born to Otis William and Lotte Mae {Perry} Macklin. On March 27, 1982, Doug married Sina Keller, his love and best friend. He is survived by: his wife, Sina; his daughters, Jodie (Jeff) Johnson of Coldwater, MI, & Toma (Mike) Vail of Covington, IN; his four grandchildren, Logan, Luke, & Ryan Johnson of Coldwater, MI, and Macy Vail of Covington, IN; as well as, his beloved dog, Maggie. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers & sisters. Doug graduated Coldwater High School in 1962 and after which he held many interesting jobs until he became owner of Homecrest Rentals. Doug enjoyed flying so much he got his private pilots license. He also enjoyed playing Euchre and pool with his very special friend, Ernie Jorgenson. He also loved the Chicago Cubs, the Detroit Lions, NASCAR, spending time with friends, family and traveling. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL. Visitation will be held 11:00am to 1:00pm Saturday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.
