Dottie M Jones

Dottie M. Jones 74, of Danville, passed away at 3:59am on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at home with her family by her side. Dottie was born on July 8, 1939, in Danville, the daughter of Clarence J. and Betty L. (Pate) Burton. On December 31, 1959, Dottie married Ron Jones at the Catlin Church of Christ by Rev. Reggie Thomas. Surviving Dottie are her 3 daughters, Deb (Bob) Wheaton of Greencastle, PA., Diana Lewis of Danville, and Rhonda (Jerry) Olson of Tremont, IL. Her five grandchildren, Angie (Brian) Riley of Charleston, SC., Josh (Jennifer) Lewis of Westville, IL., Katie Lewis of Paris, IL., and Becca and Jeremy Olson of Tremont, IL., Two great-grandchildren, Davis Riley of Charleston, SC., Jackson Lewis of Westville, IL., and another great-grandson "Spencer Alan Lewis" to arrive in December. Special friends, Karen (Glenn) Turner, and special little neighbor friend, Jenna Ann Kingrey. Her 4 sister-in laws, Jean Burton of Westville, IL., Sandy Potter, Nancy (Bill) Hamilton, and Pam (Marvin) Cooley, all of Danville, IL., and several nieces and nephews,. Her husband Ron, parents, brother James Burton, and brother-in-law, Steve Potter precedes Dottie in death. Dottie attended schools in Catlin, IL., graduated from Cosmetology School in 1958, then furthered her education later in life with an Associates Degree in Computer Science from DACC. She owned and operated Dottie's Beauty Shop from her home for over 35 years, then worked in the office at AutoZone Warehouse Distribution Center where she retired in 2004. Dottie loved all the people she met through her many years as a beautician and office assistant. She forever cherished her friends and co-workers. Dottie loved spending time with her family and many many friends. She was one of the original members of a local Euchre Club. She enjoyed traveling, playing Bingo, cooking and spending time with her family. She never knew a stranger and was always lending a helping hand to those in need. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was a member of the Union Corner United Methodist Church of Danville, IL., and shared a very special friendship with Pastor Patti Wise. A celebration of Dotties life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday November 2, 2013 at Sunset Funeral in Danville with Pastor Patti Wise officiating. A visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Friday November 1, 2013 at the Funeral Home.
