Dorthy L. Junkert

Dorthy L. (Nixon) Junkert, 83, of Danville, left her loved ones to go be with the Lord peacefully at 12:40pm on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Provena USMC in Danville, with her husband Alan, and loved ones by her side. She was born on January 28, 1927, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Arch and Effie May (Clark) Nixon. On August 8, 1994, Dorthy married Alan Junkert in Danville. He survives along with her special niece, Carolyn J. Miller who loved her very much. Her parents, two sisters, Violet Branon, Virginia Champlin, her two brothers, Harold Nixon, Robert Nixon, her brother-in-law, Bill Champlin, her sisters-in-law, Harlyne Nixon,Helen Nixon, her nephew, Troy Brown, and her niece, Rita Dodson preceded Dorthy in death. She attended Peoria and Danville Schools, and later was employed at the former Lakeview Medical Center in Danville in the housekeeping department for 15 years. Dorthy enjoyed listening to both religious and country music. She also enjoyed looking at her pretty flowers in her yard that her husband Alan would put out for her each year, and loved and cherished her three little pets, Tippy, Tom, and Baby. A Celebration of Dorthy L. Junkerts Life is scheduled for 10:00am on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with internment to follow at Springhill Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00am until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
