Dorothy Ann (Vanderport) Zien, 80, of Georgetown passed away suddenly Sunday, March 20, 2016, Hawthorne Inn, Danville. She was recuperating from a serious fall at her home. She was born on July 5, 1935, in Westville, IL, one of three children to Camille Leon and Thelma Mildred {Moreman} Vanderport. She is survived by: her husband of 47 years, Raymond Arthur Zien; a sister, Deloris (Frank) Readnour of Ridge Farm; her three daughters from a previous marriage to Dale K. Snyder, Thelma (Joe) Grave of Georgetown, Terri (Jeffery) Hawkins of Yorktown, VA, & Tracey (Keith) Sculle of Sherman; Ray's children, Daniel (Betty) Zien of Indianapolis, IN, and Melissa (Rick) Turner of Sedalia, MO; her five grandchildren, Jenna Grave (Jim) Wirth, Justin Grave, Bob (Trisha) Grave, Tyler (Shannon) Hawkins, and Kyle (Stephanie) Hawkins; and her great grandchildren, Jacob Lawyer, Lillian & Andrew Grave, Jesse Hawkins, Olivia & Veronica Grave, and Leah Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Oscar Bud' Vanderport. Dorothy lived many places as a military wife, but she always considered Georgetown her home. When she and her daughters returned to Georgetown, she worked as a beautician and later opened a beauty shop in her home. As per her wishes, Dorothy will be cremated with private family services at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. She will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery. As a special request in lieu of flowers, although not actually born on the 4th of July, Dorothy dearly loved the 4th of July fireworks displays and as an expression of remembrance and sympathy, please take some extra time to enjoy you next 4th of July with family and friends.
