Dorothy V. Williams

Dorothy Virginia Williams, 80, of Mahomet, IL, formally of Derby, KS and Montgomery, TX, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was born in Slocomb, AL on March 4, 1943, the youngest of 10 children of Homer and Lena Smith. Dorothy married Spencer Williams on November 18, 1961.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Spencer; children, Deana (Mark) Chounard, Corey (Jill) Williams; grandchildren, Austen Dempsay, Shelby (Craig) Harris, Jenna (Kyle) Dulworth, Chase Williams, Lane Williams, Ryan Chounard; great-grandchildren, Levi Harris, Holland Harris, Annelise Harris, Avery Dulworth; siblings, Joyce Grimmer, Charles Smith, and Max Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings, and son-in-law, Randy Dempsay.

After graduating from high school Dorothy entered cosmetology school and worked as a beautician for many years. Throughout her life she was very active in church activities including leading Bible study, teaching Sunday school, and being a member of the Christian Womens Club. In her spare time Dorothy enjoyed cooking, sewing, decorating, and maintaining her home. She was a truly kind and loving woman who will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home Mahomet Chapel 1102 Churchill R. Mahomet, IL 61853. The funeral service will be held immediately after at 11am.

Dorothy had a strong Christian Faith, which is why her family asks that if you would like to place a memorial donation in Dorothys name, you do so to your local church.
