Dorothy Suchaczewski

Dorothy Helen Suchaczewski, 97, of Westville passed away December 18, 2017, at 8:38pm at Presence USMC, Danville. She was born on February 28, 1920, the daughter of Hugh B. and Mabel Helen Glave Wilson in Danville, IL. Dorothy had to quit high school to help care for her siblings when her mother became bedridden after the birth of her 11th child. This diminished her dream of becoming a nurse. She was married to Joseph Paul Suchaczewski, who preceded her in death. She is survived by: her children, Patricia Anderson of Catlin and Joseph (Cindy) Suchaczewski, Jr. of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Luke, Julie, Wade, Todd, Melanie, Hillary, Jennifer, & Robert; her great grandchildren, Alexandra, Jenna, Shaylee, Kaylin, Mitchell, Dakota, William, Mercee, Gabby, Mia, Lillee, David, Derik, Cynthia, Nolan, & Autumn. Dorothy was the first born of eleven children and was the last to go. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Sadie, Lucille, Sarah, Nancy, Mary, Hugh B. Jr., Richard, John, Tom, & Jerry. She was also preceded by her granddaughter, Holly Anderson of Catlin. Dorothy was an avid flower gardener and went to many flower shows. Those included attending the flower shows in Chicago for many years, then in Cincinnati, OH, and later Atlanta, GA, Flower show for several years. She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society at St. Mary's Church in Westville for many years until she became disabled. She lived at Colonial Manor and the family would like to thank them for their care and also would like to thank the Intensive Care Unit at Presence USMC for their wonderful support and care. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her family, but she will always be in their hearts. A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, December 22, 2017, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville, with Father Saupp officiating. Visitation will be held 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Friday prior to her service at the funeral home. Rosary service will be held at 11:30am. She will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville.
