Dorothy Owen

Dorothy Owen, 88, of Danville, passed away on May 8, 2015 at Hawthorne Inn Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on May 24, 1926 in Danville, the daughter of John and Lulu (Diggs) Tillotson. She married Delmar Owen on October 26, 1947 at Central Christian Church in Danville. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1993. Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children; Eugene Owen, Larry (Sheelagh) Owen, Roger (Holly) Owen and Sue (John Biddle) Edwards, grandchildren; Shawn, Ryan and Kasey Owen, Ashley Leskanic, Megan McMullen, Wesley Payton, Meghan Sudholt and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Eugene Tillotson who was killed in World War II in 1944 while piloting a B-17 in the Adriatic Sea, one infant sister, Mary Bell Tillotson and one daughter-in-law, Cathy Owen. Dorothy was a life-long member of Central Christian Church in Danville. She worked as a bookkeeper, a self-employed Tupperware dealer and manager and also managed apartments in Arizona when she retired. She loved to sew and made most of her own clothing. Dorothy was a member of the Sweet Adeline's and loved spending most of her time with family and friends. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Deann Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date at Springhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Central Christian Church Foundation.
