Dorothy Neff Rusk

Newport, Ind. -- Dorothy Neff Rusk, 83, of Newport, Indiana, passed away at 10:55 am. EDT Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at her residence. She was born October 12, 1927 in Newtown, Illinois the daughter of the late Leonard "L.E." and Bertha "Lee" Van Allen Neff. She married Robert "Bill" Rusk on Friday, September 13, 1946 in Newtown, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2011. Survivors include: two sons, Robert A. Rusk of Rockville, Indiana and Donald G. Rusk of Newport, Indiana; two grandchildren, Robert M.(Meghan)Rusk of Chesterfield, Missouri and Kathryn Ann Rusk of Columbia City, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Leona Mitton and two brothers, Clarence "Joe" Neff and Robert Neff. Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Oakwood High School. She retired after 30 years from the Newport Post Office. She was a member of the Newport United Methodist Church. Dorothy had battled cancer and osteoporosis for several years. She enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, fishing and visiting with her many friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Funeral services: 1 p.m. EDT Friday, July 8, 2011 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 11 a.m. EDT Friday, July 8, 2011 until time of services at the funeral home.
