Dorothy Marie Creamer, 88, of Danville, passed away at 8:48 a.m. Saturday, January 21st, 2012 at Bowman Estates, where she resided and had been very happy. Dorothy was born on February 3rd, 1923, in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of Walter E. and Mary Estelle (Terry) Goodman. She married Oscar Melvin Creamer on September 8, 1946 in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2001. She is survived by two sons- Robert "Butch" (Shirley) Creamer of Danville and Walter "Buck" M. Creamer of Danville; daughter- Kathi (Bill Fellwock) Young of Decatur; nephew- Harry "Buddy" (Linda) Schrader of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother- Edwin Goodman and two half-sisters- Mary Wells and Dorothy Goodman. Dorothy graduated from high school in Lafayette, Indiana. Dorothy worked as a long distance telephone operator for Illinois Bell/AT&T until she retired. She volunteered at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, where she served 1000's of hours. Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Telephone Pioneers, Vermilion County Museum, USS San Francisco Survivor Memorial and Golden K, where she would take pictures and keep scrapbooks of all of their events. She enjoyed genealogy, collecting coins and stamps over the last 50 years and doing crossword puzzles. Dorothy also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting new people. A Celebration of the life of Dorothy Marie Creamer will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Hopper officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Danville Humane Society or to charity of their choice.
