DOROTHY LOUISE HYLAND Dorothy Louise Hyland, 90, of Danville, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Louise was born on June 19, 1916 in Danville, the daughter of Theodore and Mabel (Roe) Smith. She married Henry E. Hyland on May 31, 1948 in Danville. He preceded her in death in May of 1981. She is survived by her one son- Larry (Judy) Howie of Carmel, Indiana; one sister- Geneva Soderling of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren- Kevin (Natalie) Howie of Danville, Karen (Tim) Haslett of Catlin, Kristin (Neil) Yelenick of Catlin, Douglas (Courtney) Howie of Cicero, Indiana, and Derek (Amy) Howie of Anderson, Indiana; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one very special friend Rose Ann Talbott of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son- James Kenneth Howie, two sisters- Flossie Smith and Minnie Smith, four brothers- Glen T. Smith, Eldon Smith, Lowell Smith and William Smith. Louise is a graduate of Danville High School. She worked for over 25 years at the Palmer Bank as the head bookkeeper, until she retired in 1978. She was a member of the Danville United Church of Christ. She sang in the church choir. She lived her life with a very strong faith in the Lord. Louise was a star recorder for the Moose Lodge for over 50 years. She loved to sew. She enjoyed making clothes for the grandchildren. She was a member of the Sew and Sew Club in Danville for 70 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Louise loved to garden and she was a member of the Danville Garden Club. Louise was also a member of the Danville Quilters Guild for many years. She won several awards and ribbons for her quilts. Louise enjoyed bowling. She was a very excellent cook. Louise loved her family very much. A Celebration of the Life of Dorothy Louise Hyland will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Rev. Pamela Starr officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 " 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park following the service on Tuesday.
