Dorothy L. Richardson

Dorothy "Dot" L. Richardson, 90, of Danville, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Monday October 3, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Dorothy was born on September 14, 1921, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Mose and Mary (Cumerine) Meeker. She married Gus Shank Richardson on August 4, 1945, in Hagerstown, Maryland. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2009. She is survived by her four children- Gayle (Clark) Smith of McDonough, Georgia, Dave (Lisa) Richardson of Palm Harbor, Florida, Sue (Harold "Butch") Cassidy of Danville and Jane (Dave) Bernthal of Mahomet; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter- Lindsey, grandson- Hunter and a son-in-law- Paul Remlinger. Dorothy attended Danville High School. She worked for Illinois Bell and as a bookkeeper for Richardson Construction. Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Danville. She enjoyed traveling, roses and spending time with her family and friends. She also loved cooking with her family, especially coconut cream pies for her son-Dave. A Celebration of the life of Dorothy "Dot" L. Richardson will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Hopper officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
