Dorothy L. Eyestone

Dorothy Lucille Eyestone, 92, of Danville, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Gardenview Manor, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born November 23, 1924 in Bement, IL, the daughter of Otis and Bessie (Lanier) Scott. Dorothy married Robert L. Eyestone on December 3, 1942 in Terre Haute, IN. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1994. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Eyestone of Navarre, FL., Carole Eyestone of Danville and Kay Reese of Bismarck; four grandchildren, Kelly (Roger) VanRaden of Rantoul, Philip (Kristy) Reese of Brandon, MS, Rhonda (Gary) Lepper of Crawfordsville, IN, and Joseph (Joanna) Reese of Indianapolis, IN; thirteen great-grandchildren, Tim, Amber, Justin, Conner, and Lexi Reese, Emily (Jordan) Miller, Isaac, Adam, Daniel, Grace and Sarah VanRaden, Allen and Jasper Reese. She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Virginia Mattingly and Maxine Price, and son-law, Allen Reese. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church of Danville, where she faithfully worked in the nursery for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral home and Cremation Center 3940 North Vermilion Danville, IL 61834 with Pastor Roger VanRaden officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, September 1, 2017 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
