Alvin- Dorothy Jean Hudison, 78, of Alvin died at 7:40 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Hoopeston Nursing Home. She was born on May 7, 1933 in Scottsboro, AL to Ruben and Pearl Bridges Lawrence. She married James B. Hudison on April 27, 1953 in Mississippi. He preceded her in death in 2002. Surviving are eight children, Kathy (Ken) Cassidy of Bismarck, Debbie (Jeff) Long of Hoopeston, Linda (Jerry) Crawley of Attica, IN, Dolly (Mike) Klein of Alvin, Jim (Elvia) Hudison of Henning, Charlie (Connie) Hudison of Danville, Rita (Mike) Drennan of Alvin, and Becky (John) Kinnett of Alvin; 16 grandchildren, Mike, Amanda, Chad, Shane, Brian, Branden, Aaron, Mark, Chris, Stephanie, Jamie, Shawn, Allen, Blake, Kaitlyn, and Garet; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Carl and Grady Lawrence, grandchildren Shawnna and Matthew, son-in-law Pete Dickison, and a nephew Bobby Lawrence. Jean had worked at GE for many years and later retired from Bell Sports. She enjoyed reading the paper, crocheting, flowers and gardening, and watching the Atlanta Braves. Jean was a great Southern cook and loved her weekend cookouts. Anyone was always welcome to eat at her home and everyone envied her homemade biscuits. A service to celebrate the life of Dorothy Jean Hudison will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Dwayne Sovdi will officiate. Burial will follow at Mann's Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, October 17, also at Sunset in Danville.
